Jubilee Trust dissolved – Village News article: November 2018

With Groove on the Green having now grown to such a large event, and with ever-increasing costs, we have agreed that the Trust is dissolved and that all funds are passed to the new Groove on the Green committee, who will retain the primary objective – to help fund projects and organisations within the area for the benefit of all those who live here.

Full details here.

The Trust was formed after a group of people got together to do “something” to mark HM The Queen’s Golden Jubilee. The charity was then registered in 2004 as a vehicle for raising money for the benefit of the village and surrounding area, with the first item being the beautiful handmade sign that adorns the village green.

Since then, we have supported most of the organisations within the village, helping to fund such items as a teenage shelter and play equipment at the village hall, roof repairs and toilet/server for the church, new chairs for the chapel and start up costs for the Walgrave Cinema Club.

We were also able to fund a party for old and young alike on the occasion of the Diamond Jubilee in 2012, and every child who lived in the village was given a commemorative mug.

Walgrave Jubilee Trust have held various events to raise funds; more recently our main event, Groove on the Green, has been in conjunction with the Village Hall & Playing Field Association. Fundraising for the inaugural Walgrave Cycle Ride was also via the Trust for other charities.
