Pocket Parks Survey
This consultation asks residents of Northamptonshire to give their views on the Pocket Park scheme. The results will be used to inform the County council's budget setting process for 2012-13 The more support there is for Pocket Parks, the better the chance of funding continuing. Please take a few minutes to have a look at, and complete, the survey. The closing date is 26 August. There is more information on Northamptonshire Pocket Parks, including Walgrave's, on the Northamptonshire County Council site and updated Pocket Park information and pictures will soon be uploaded on this site.

Red Springs Nature Reserve, Pocket Park
The four-acre site was given to the village in 1992, and is managed by the Parish Council. It is located on the eastern fringe of the village, on the Kettering Road.
Originally farmland with a marshy northern end, local residents and volunteers planned and planted the layout. Streams and pond are fed from natural springs with an unusually high iron content which leaves a red deposit in the water - hence the name Red Springs. A further gift of mature ponds and a small wooded area in the adjacent field was incorporated into the Reserve in 2001.
Managed with the object of conserving all types of wild life, and providing an interesting walk for children and adults alike, there are footpaths running through the meadowland from the centre of the village, giving easy access.
The Reserve is joined with the Northamptonshire Pocket Park scheme and through this we have received advice and some financial support.
