St Peter's Church, Walgrave
The Church of England in Walgrave
Saint Peter's Church Walgrave is a part of a Benefice with the Churches in Hannington, Old, and Scaldwell. The Priest-in-charge is Rev’d. Karen Jongman who was appointed in July 2004.
There is a thriving and welcoming Christian community in Walgrave. Church membership is over fifty, although a much greater number of villagers attend Church services sometime during the year, often to the special services such as Christmas, Easter, Mothering Sunday, Harvest Festival and Remembrance Sunday. Every second Sunday of the month a Family Service is held, everyone is welcome and refreshments are served after the service. On the fourth Sunday of the month there is a Family Service with Communion. Both of these services are particularly suitable for children. Our services cater for the whole community. On the first Sunday of the month there is a Holy Communion Service at 9:45 a.m. Common Worship order one in contemporary language is used. On the second Sunday of the month there is the Family Service at 9:45 am followed by refreshments. On the third Sunday of the month there is either an 8:30 am Holy Communion or a 6:00 pm Evensong using the order of service from the Book of Common Prayer. A Family Communion Service is held on the fourth Sunday of the month at 9:45 am. When there is a fifth Sunday in the month a United Benefice Service is held in one of the Benefice Churches at 9:45 am. The programme of services is displayed on a notice board inside the Church porch. The details of the next service are displayed on the Church notice board facing the High Street. The Church is very active socially in the village and puts on many events. Recently the social calendar has featured a Summer Lunch, a Barn Dance, a Safari Supper, a Harvest Supper and produce auction, a Concert and a Sponsored Bicycle Ride. Details are circulated around the village and on this website - please come and join in with the Church community. Details of forthcoming services at St Peter's are here.
